St. Patrick's Day Pot of Gold treat cups are perfect for classroom snacks or a fun surprise for family and friends.
Word on the street is that there's a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow! I cannot even remember how the story goes, but there's a Leprechaun in there somewhere as well. I'm not sure I'll ever find a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, so these treat cups are the closest thing to it!
How to Make St. Patrick's Day Pot of Gold Treat Cups
Materials:
- Used K-Cups, washed and dried
- Black Spray Paint
- Black Pipe Cleaners
- Adhesive Felt Shamrocks
- Paper Punch
- Scissors
- Rainbow Gummy Candies
- Gold Sixlet Candies
Directions:
- Punch two holes, opposite each other, into each K cup.
- Spray your K cups with black spray paint. I'd recommend spraying the outside and inside. A few tips {{{ahem}}} perhaps from experience: Always use a high quality spray paint, and preferably one that works on plastic. Let paint dry completely.
- Cut a pipe cleaner in half. Place it into one hole on the K cup and bend it up to secure it.
- Place the other end of the pipe cleaner into the other hole in the K cup and bend it to secure the cup. Shape the handle of your pot of gold as desired.
- Fill the cup about halfway with gold candies.
- Cut the gummy rainbow in half, and place it into the cup.
- Add additional gold candies until your pot of gold is full.
- Add a shamrock to the front of your pot.
A note about the candies: Although they are small, K cups actually hold a lot of candy. A 1lb bag of these gold candies will fill about 10-12 cups. You can reduce the number of candies in the cup by adding a filler of another candy to the bottom of the cup, or adding some yellow or gold shredded paper grass and placing the gold candies on top.
