If you have little ones and you'd like a silly craft instead of a scary one, then you will love our Silly Spider Craft.
Whenever Halloween rolls around, stores are filled with decorations of vampires and goblins. But since some little ones get spooked easily and the scary crafts and projects probably aren't the best for them. That's why I wanted to make these spiders a little silly with their big googly eyes and fuzzy colorful legs.
I always have containers of crafts for rainy days and some of the things I always have are colorful pipe cleaners, googly eyes, and paints galore. These Silly Spiders really don't require many supplies and you can actually find most of these items at your local dollar store.
You'll need:
- Small paper cups
- Colorful pipe cleaners
- Googly eyes
- Black, green, and yellow craft paint
- Paint brushes
- Hole Punch
- Scissors
- Hot glue/Hot glue gun
If you have some old newspaper you'll want to line your craft space with a few pieces. Then you can squirt some of each color paint onto a paper plate or paint palette. You can start by painting your little paper cups with your black paint, then let them dry (a hair dryer works great for a quick dry).
You'll want to punch 4 holes in each side of your cups which will leave a space for 8 legs on each Silly Spider. Next carefully hot glue your googly eyes onto the empty space in the center of the 8 holes.
Then start painting your colorful polka dots all over your spiders, the more the better. Once the polka dots have dried, trim about 3" off each pipe cleaner, and stick each one through one side and out through the opposite hole. Once you have all 4 pipe cleaners in, bend each side twice, once in the center, and once on the end for the feet.
You'll want to make more than just one, then you'll have lots of silly Halloween decorations.
