These quick and easy Patriotic Rag Balls will be perfect for your holiday table decor!
I absolutely love holidays and July 4th is one of my favorites as I adore summer and being outside. I think it also helps that my birthday is July 3rd and growing up it was always fun to have my birthday the day before a huge national holiday. Heck, I still love it now that I have a family of my own. We're usually out on the boat enjoying the day and then ending with it fireworks above the bay. When we can't make it out on the boat, we always try to make it to our city's annual 4th of July parade and fireworks. We pack up a few folding chairs and grab some blankets and then head into town to watch the parade and then walk down to the park. It's a great time to hang out with friends and family and celebrate our nation's independence.
Parades and fireworks aside, I also love cute and frugal holiday home decor. We are all about easy here at Craft Create Cook and these DIY Patriotic Rag Balls only take a a few minutes to make, and will add a whole lot of charm to your table or counter top!
I bought some pretty Patriotic quilting fabric, some medium styrofoam balls, grabbed my scissors and hot glue gun and then went to town. Not only were these quick and easy to make, it was actually quite relaxing to sit for a few minutes cutting the fabric into strips and wrapping them around the balls to make a unique and inexpensive home decor item.
To make the DIY Patriotic Rag Balls you will need a few simply supplies:
- low temp hot glue gun
- medium size styrofoam balls (3" or 4" in diameter)
- Patriotic quilting fabric
- scissors
First, plug in your hot gun and allow it to heat up.
Next, cut your Patriotic fabric into ½" strips, length really does not matter.
Place a dab of hot glue onto one of the styrofoam balls and attach one end of the fabric strip. Gently wrap the fabric around the ball and affix the end to the ball with another dab of hot glue.
Repeat this process with the other fabric strips until the ball is completely covered.
