Nothing says summer like fresh berries and I love them all. In June the signs start to appear for strawberry picking and farmer's markets advertise fresh-picked berries.

In July the blueberries are in full bloom with the heat, followed quickly by raspberries and blackberries. My favorite is finding a wild blackberry bush in the woods, carefully sliding between thorns, and eating the berries right as I pick them.

When I'm at the grocery store, I swear those berries emit a fragrant smell from halfway across the store aisles.

I'm immediately drawn to them and always seem to grab more than I need when they are on sale. This leaves me with finding ways to use them up! And this summer fruit pizza dessert is just right!

With a few simple ingredients, you'll be on your way to creating a fun dessert for your next summer barbecue.

Start with your favorite homemade sugar cookie recipe, or grab a tube of pre-made sugar cookies at the grocery store.

Roll them, cut with a cookie cutter, bake and cool. Top with the sweet cream cheese spread and sliced fresh fruit and you're done!

You don't need an excuse or party to make these sweet treats. Turn this into a fun dessert night with your family! Encourage everyone to choose their own fruit toppings and make unique creations to enjoy.

Perhaps a smiling face made of blueberries and a big raspberry nose. Or add some strawberry spiked hair. No one can resist playing with their food!

No Bake Patriotic Fruit Pizza Cookies

Ingredients

• 1 roll (16 ounces) pre-made sugar cookie dough
• 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
• 7 ounces (one small container) marshmallow creme
• fresh strawberries, washed and sliced thinly
• fresh raspberries, washed
• fresh blueberries, washed
• fresh mint

Instructions

1. Follow the directions on the cookie dough to slice and bake your cookies. Cool completely.
2. Using a mixer, beat cream cheese and marshmallow creme until mixed well.
3. Spread onto cookie and top with sliced fruit and mint.
4. Serve immediately.

Notes

The sugar cookies shown were rolled and cut with a 3" round cookie cutter.
A roll of pre-made cookie dough will make about 16 cookies. A homemade sugar cookie recipe will make many more. You'll have enough cream for about 24 cookies.
