If you're reading this because you saw the "B" word, I am almost certain you will not be disappointed in these Maple Bacon Appetizers!

I'm pretty certain {{almost}} everyone loves B-A-C-O-N! I know I do! When I was a kid we'd have it for breakfast on the weekends, and my sister and I loved the way my dad cooked the bacon. It was perfect. Every. Single. Time. I can remember eating breakfast and then going to church on Sunday and when we returned from church, the house smelled like bacon. Today I'm no different - I love it when my dad cooks bacon when we visit my parents house for the holidays and he makes a big breakfast. His bacon is still perfect.

I recommend using pure maple syrup. Now I have a hook-up from the Upper Peninsula. Usually I do some favors for her such as creating her Christmas cards or making birthday invitations for her kids, and she gives me maple syrup from her family's annual harvest. You can also purchase pure maple syrup at most grocery stores and farmer's markets. All of them taste a little bit different, but are oh-so-good.

Maple Bacon Appetizers

Ingredients

• 1 loaf french bread, sliced into ⅝" pieces
• 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
• ¼ cup brown sugar
• 3 Tablespoons pure maple syrup
• 1 teaspoon vanilla
• ½ lb bacon, cooked and crumbled or sliced into small pieces

Instructions

Preheat oven to 350 and line a baking pan with parchment paper. Place slices of french bread onto the baking pan and set aside.

In a mixing bowl, add cream cheese, brown sugar, maple syrup and vanilla. Beat until mixed well.

Spread cheese mixture onto each piece of french bread and top with bacon.

Bake in preheated oven for 5-8 minutes or until heated through.

Serve immediately.
