I love peanut butter & jelly sandwiches and so do my kids. I also love the store bought version of Smucker's uncrustables. The kids even get peanut butter & jelly a few times a week for lunch. I don't, however, like the price. A 4 count box of Smucker's Uncrustables runs about $4 at my local grocery store. That's a $1 a sandwich! I have three kids and if they each take a peanut butter and jelly sandwich every day for school lunch, that's $15 a week and $540 a school year! I started thinking and, I could make them for pennies, and so I did. The only thing I needed was this handy Wonderbread Sandwich Sealer. It's essential for making your own uncrustable sandwiches and saving yourself some money.

I took a minute to break down the cost:

• 1 loaf of bread costs about $1.25
• 16 oz jar of peanut butter runs about $2.29 at Aldi or $2.56 at Walmart
• We make our own strawberry and raspberry jam so I didn't take the price of fresh berries into account, but I'm positive my price of homemade jam could rival store bought any day.

So, take 20 minutes and make up a few loaves of bread into homemade uncrustable sandwiches and make your morning lunch packing sessions a lot easier.

DIY Uncrustable Sandwiches

Ingredients

• peanut butter, creamy or chunky
• jelly or jam of your choice
• 1 loaf of bread

Instructions

Spread peanut butter and jelly on 2 slices of bread.

Sandwich the bread together and use the Wonderbread Sandwich maker to seal the Uncrustables.

Place each Uncrustable in a sandwich baggie and freeze.

Remove from the freezer and unthaw prior to serving.

if sending in your child's lunch, simply place the Uncrustable in their lunch box and it will be ready to eat by lunch.
