Sriracha sauce is not something I typically keep in my house, but these cheesy apple sriracha bites are always a big hit and I've been taking them to most of the outings we are invited to!

The first time I made these, I told my husband that we need to enjoy this simple appetizer more often. These. Are. Simply. Amazing. And I don't like hot stuff! I'm the mild salsa gal because medium is waaay too hot for me. But this I ate, albeit chasing with a tall glass of white milk, but I couldn't keep myself from shoving these into my mouth - burn or no burn! It's like a big kid grilled cheese - but with sophisticated sriracha sauce and fancy cheese. Okay, okay, cheddar isn't that fancy, but it's shredded, and you could certainly add almost any cheese to this appetizer.

Typically I prefer hot appetizers to remain hot and cold appetizers to remain cold. I do not like eating room temperature hot or cold appetizers. So what I normally do is cook the hot appetizers when I'm having a party and count on others who ask to bring something bring the cold items. I love tossing things into the oven and serving them hot at my home when entertaining. But these, these are really good hot out of the oven and after they've sat and cooled for a few minutes or for half of the party.

You get the softness of the cheese, with the crispness of the apple and the crust of the bread and then the kick of the sriracha sauce. My mouth is watering typing this! We made them and ate them all one night for dinner. I mean, clearly this qualifies for a meatless meal! You can certainly modify these to your liking -- add more or less sriracha sauce to make them more or less spicy. A little bit of this sauce goes a long way. And I would not hesitate to make these ahead of time, pop them (covered) into the fridge and then heat as needed.

Cheesy Apple Sriracha Bites

Cook Time 8 minutes

Total Time 18 minutes

Ingredients

• Italian Bread, sliced into 1" slices
• Sriracha Sauce
• 2 apples, thinly sliced
• 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
• Finely chopped fresh parsley, for garnish, optional

Instructions

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

Spread a small amount of sriracha sauce onto each slice of bread.

Top with apple slices and sprinkle with cheddar cheese.

Bake for 5-8 minutes or until cheese is melted and bubbly.

Remove from oven and top with parsley if desired.
