I've always wanted an amazingly decorated house for every single holiday. You know those displays you see when you walk into the Home Goods store? I want that. In my house. But, my pocket book disagrees. As does my general frugal-ness. That's why I often try to make my own decorations for the holidays. This year I wanted to amp up my St. Patrick's Day home decorations and I started with this Shamrock Bunting Banner.

How to Make Your Own St. Patrick's Day Decorations

Materials:

Burlap - purchased by the yard at a craft store
Clear Contact Paper
Scissors
Felt Clovers/Shamrocks (I found mine at Joann's. 8 of each color to a package. I affixed the dark green on top of the light green with a hot glue gun.)
Twine
Hot Glue and Hot Glue Gun
Paper
Pen
Ruler or Paper Trimmer with a ruler

Directions:

Cut a piece of paper to 5x7. Fold in half and cut from the fold to the outer edge. Open the paper and you should have your banner shape.
Using an iron, smooth out any creases and wrinkles in your burlap.
Cut a piece of contact paper at least 8” long. Attach to a piece of burlap and press firmly to adhere. Place your paper pattern on the contact paper, and using a pen, trace around the paper template. Cut each flag out with scissors and set aside. Repeat until desired number of flags are cut.Leave the contact paper on the burlap. Why do I do this? I cannot stand that burlap frays. It drives me nuts. So this is my attempt to slow the fraying without actually having to sew burlap!
Attach a clover onto the front of each flag with hot glue.
Fold over the top of the burlap and affix with hot glue on the back to make a pocket for your twine. I like to thread my burlap pieces onto the twine rather than gluing them, so I can space them evenly or spread them out to fit the area I'm decorating in my home.
String a piece of twine through your flags and hang!
