Looking for something fun to do with your significant other but don't want to spend a lot of money? We've put together a list of cheap summer date ideas that are not only fun but budget friendly!
#1. Stargazing. What could be be more romantic and frugal than gathering some old blankets and pillows and heading to a quiet spot or your backyard for some quiet stargazing. Pack some snacks and a bottles of wine and see who can spot the constellations first. We like these stargazing cards for locating things easily in the sky.
#2. Picnic in the park. As soon as summer hits you better believe I am on a mission taking our kiddos to every park in our area. But sometimes it's best to leave the kids at home. Make a lunch or dinner date with your significant other and have a picnic meal at the park. Save money and pack your own. After you eat, take a stroll and do some exploring or simply enjoy each others company.
#3. Attend a sporting event. Spend the afternoon at a baseball or softball game. Tickets during weekdays are often cheaper than on the weekend. Enjoy hot dogs, an adult beverage, popcorn and maybe even some cotton candy! And don't forget some sunscreen if you enjoy a day game!
#4. Explore your city. Check out the local parks, museums and library. Try lunch somewhere new! Check for free festivals and weeknight events such as live bands in the center square park or weekend art fairs that often do not have admission fees.
#5. Make a day of it and head to beach. Pack some towels, sunscreen, snack and drinks. Bring along some sand toys and have a contest to see who can build the best sand castle. If you don't have a beach close by, try a pool or new water park! Adults can have fun, too!
#6. Get outside and take a bike ride, go for a hike or rollerblading! Head to a local park and take advantage of the hiking trails.
#7. Color together. No, seriously. Adult coloring books are all the rage. They even sell them at dollar stores! Grab 1 or 2, a few colored pencils and spend a few hours together coloring and chatting.
What are some cheap summer dates you are looking forward to, or what have you done that you'd like to share? We'd love to hear from you!
